The University of Minnesota maintains several bilateral exchange agreements with universities from around the world. These agreements include opportunities for a limited number of students to “exchange” and study at the partner university. Students from exchange partner universities study at the University of Minnesota as non-degree students through the GO Minnesota program and receive extensive pre-departure and on-site support. The experience is similar to that of other non-degree international students, and therefore, most of the information on this website applies to both exchange and study abroad (visiting) students.
Financial benefits vary according to the agreement in place with the partner institution. These vary from a full scholarship program to payment of full non-resident tuition and fees. Students must be nominated by a partner institution on an active exchange agreement in order to take advantage of exchange financial benefits. No applications will be considered without a nomination from a student's home university. Students should check with the international office at their university for more information.
